The assets of Microplastics, Inc. have been acquired by MATEtronix US, an affiliate of MATEtronix GmbH & Co. KG, an international manufacturer of hybrid assemblies made from plastic-coated metal and plastic injection molded products. This acquisition establishes MATEtronix’s North American presence, while increasing its plastic injection molding capabilities.
The Challenge
Microplastics, a custom injection plastics molding manufacturing and engineering services ESOP Corporation with over 30 years of experience, faced a critical situation requiring the sale of the business while preserving as many jobs as possible at their facility. The company needed, not only a buyer, but also interim stability to maintain operations during the sale process.
The Cascade Difference
Cascade Partners delivered value beyond traditional M&A advisory by providing executive leadership as the Chief Restructuring Officer to guide the organization through this challenging transition period. Our team established funding to support continued operations through the second half of 2025, maintaining business continuity until the right buyer was identified. This hands-on approach helped build confidence among customers and employees during a period of significant uncertainty.
The Result
The transaction successfully closed in December, delivering results that exceeded expectations. Approximately 60 positions were retained at the facility, preserving well over half of the jobs and providing economic stability for the workforce. The asset sale satisfied senior secured lenders and returned capital to subordinated secured lenders, while MATEtronix established their North American manufacturing presence through the acquisition.
This transaction demonstrates Cascade Partners’ ability to navigate complex situations by combining strategic advisory, interim leadership, and stakeholder management to achieve outcomes that benefit all parties, from lenders to employees to strategic buyers.
Cascade Partners acted as the Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) & exclusive financial advisor, and Miller Johnson acted as legal counsel for Microplastics, Inc.
