Harvest for Hunger is a joint effort of four area food banks to raise money and food to fight hunger in 21 Northeast and North Central Ohio counties. It is coordinated by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley and Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio.
Ken Marblestone, managing director, was a co-chair for the Harvest for Hunger Campaign.
About the Community Members Harvest for Hunger Serves:
- One in 6 Ohioans struggles to put food on the table. For children, that number is more dismal, as 1 in 5 children are at risk of going hungry.
- Ohio ranks 11th in the nation for food insecurity. Those living in food-insecure households can’t always count on having three nutritious meals every day.
- All too often, those served by the Harvest for Hunger campaign must choose between paying for food and paying for utilities such as heat, or getting the medicines they need to stay healthy.
